Direct Comparison of Electron Density Measurements in Laser-created Plasmas Using Stark Broadening and Satellite Line Intensities

چکیده
Spectral line profiles, broadened mostly by Stark effects from electric fields produced by charge particles, and dielectronic satellite line intensities have recently been used for determining electron densities in the dense region of lasercreated plasmas [1-3]. We present here a direct comparison of electron density measurements in the conduction region of laser created plasmas on a plane target using these two techniques.

Spatial and temporal evolution of argon sparks.
Optical emission spectroscopic studies of laser-created argon sparks are carried out. Pulses of 532 nm and 8 ns from a frequency-doubled Nd:YAG laser are used to create an argon spark at 1 atm. Gated photography of 2 ns is used to investigate spark evolution at early times. Electron temperature and density measurements are made from the spectral data. The Stark broadening of emission lines is u...
متن کاملTime evolution of the electron density and temperature in laser-produced plasmas from YBa2Cu3O7
Laser radiation at 1.06 μm from a pulsed Nd:YAG laser was focused onto a multielement YBa2Cu3O7 target in vacuum and the plasma thus generated was studied using time-resolved spectroscopic techniques. Line broadening of the Ba I emission line at 553.5 nm was monitored as a function of time elapsed after the incidence of a laser pulse on the target. Measured line profiles of barium species were ...
متن کاملExperimental and calculated Stark widths within the Kr I spectrum.
On the basis of the precisely recorded 20 neutral krypton (Kr I) line shapes (in the 5s-5p and 5s-6p transitions), we have obtained the basic plasma parameters, i.e., electron temperature (T) and electron density (N) using our line deconvolution procedure in a plasma created in a linear, low-pressure, pulsed arc discharge operated in krypton. The mentioned plasma parameters have also been measu...
متن کاملTime resolved study of CN band emission from plasma generated by laser irradiation of graphite
Time and space resolved studies of emission from CN molecules have been carried out in the plasma produced from graphite target by 1.06 urn pulses from a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. Depending on the laser pulse energy, time of observation and position of the sampled volume of the plasma, the features of the emission spectrum are found to change drastically. The vibrational temperature and populati...
متن کاملProgress in line-shape modeling of K-shell transitions in warm dense titanium plasmas
Modeling of x-ray spectra emitted from a solid-density strongly coupled plasma formed in short-duration, high-power laser–matter interactions represents a highly challenging task due to extreme conditions found in these experiments. In this paper we present recent progress in the modeling and analysis of Kα emission from solid-density laser-produced titanium plasmas. The selfconsistent modeling...
